Marist’s Oberdorf, Phippen Named CoSIDA Academic All-District

Red-shirt senior Claire Oberdorf and sophomore Calista Phippen of the Marist softball team were named College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District on Thursday. The award takes into account career accomplishments and academic performance.
 
Oberdorf ranks in the top 10 in program history in stolen bases (50, third), triples (seven, tied for sixth), batting average (.329, seventh), runs (106, 10th), and RBIs (105, 10th). She is a finalist for the Marist Athletics Department’s Sportsperson of the Year and Strength & Conditioning awards. Oberdorf was the Red Foxes’ leading hitter at .379 this season. In 2016, she was named a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Top 10 Freshman and Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Rookie of the Year as she helped lead the Red Foxes to a MAAC championship. She also was a five-year member of the Marist women’s basketball program, and appeared in 97 career games with 53 starts. She is an Applied Mathematics major.
